Besides early bilingualism, the reception level also aims to support and aid each individual child at their personal learning pace. The teaching model used at reception level assumes a holistic approach to education, which supports and supervises the children in their own learning processes.
Because the teaching staff working with the reception group and the primary school teachers are part of the same team, the two levels interact on a regular basis. All children at Josef Schwarz School attend the same afternoon and holiday programmes, for instance. This close connection between reception and primary school ensures that the children’s self-learning processes are not only guided by adults and peers but also by older children. The children at reception level thus enjoy special educational input at an early age. They master the transition to year 1 playfully and in a manner appropriate to their age.
The objective of the reception stage is to help children make the smoothest transition possible and establish a fertile foundation for later educational processes at an early stage.
