Welcome & willkommen
to Josef-Schwarz-Schule

Josef-Schwarz-Schule stands for outstanding education in a modern German-English learning environment. Since 2012, we have been guiding children and young people on their educational journey at our Erlenbach campus – and since 2020, also in Heilbronn. Our state-recognised concept combines the German curriculum with international perspectives, offers lessons in both German and English, and places a special focus on STEM subjects. Discover a school that embraces diversity and reimagines learning.

What sets Josef-Schwarz-Schule apart?

Global & local

We combine strong regional roots with a truly international outlook. Our school community is shaped by cultural diversity: children from around the world learn together to take responsibility, think beyond borders and approach others with openness. As part of the Phorms Education network, we foster respectful dialogue between students and our international teaching team.

Skills for the future

At Josef-Schwarz-Schule, children and young people develop the competencies they need for tomorrow’s world. Our focus lies not only on academic excellence, but also on project-based learning, critical thinking and creative problem-solving – alongside social skills and personal growth. The safe and reflective use of digital media is a natural part of everyday school life, preparing students for confident and responsible participation in a digital world.

Bilingual all-day programme

From reception through to the Abitur, both German and English are used naturally in class and in everyday life. This bilingual approach promotes not only language fluency, but also intercultural understanding. Our well-structured all-day programme includes varied learning, creative and sports activities, providing a balanced environment that blends knowledge, movement and imagination.

STEM-focused learning

Mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology form a key part of our innovative school concept. Using hands-on experiments, digital tools and creative teaching methods, we inspire enthusiasm for STEM subjects and prepare our students for a rapidly evolving world.

Modern facilities

Our state-of-the-art school building in Heilbronn sets new standards for digital and collaborative learning. Our Erlenbach site also offers inspiring learning environments. Specialist rooms, makerspaces and laboratories spark curiosity and innovation, encouraging students to explore ideas, solve problems and think creatively.

Individual support

Every child learns differently. That’s why we focus on personal strengths and development. In small classes and supported by a dedicated teaching team, we ensure that every student receives the encouragement they need to grow, thrive and overcome challenges.

From science to art – everything is bilingual.

At our German-English schools, we foster a cosmopolitan, diverse and inspiring learning environment where students can explore and develop their individual interests.«

Awards and partnerships

STEM-friendly school

This award recognises our strong focus on mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology. In addition to regular lessons, afternoon clubs such as robotics in the LEGO Education Lab or hands-on experimentation in our research kitchen further enrich our students’ STEM experience.

Digital school

Our students use tablets and laptops in class. With digital learning platforms, SMART Boards and interactive apps, we foster media literacy and prepare young people for the digital world. This comprehensive use of technology was recognised with the “Digital School” ("Digitale Schule") award.

experimenta partner school

As a partner school of experimenta, Germany's largest science centre, we open the door to inspiring encounters with science and technology. Our students explore, discover and experience scientific phenomena up close.

Primary school with a focus on sport and physical education

We see movement as part of learning. This award recognises our concept that promotes physical and mental strength in equal measure.

IN FORM – Germany’s initiative for healthy eating and exercise

Healthy nutrition and regular physical activity are an integral part of our daily school life. The IN FORM initiative supports us in promoting the holistic development of every child.

School + Food = Grade 1

The Josef-Schwarz-Schule has been awarded the quality label "Schule + Essen = Note 1", a recognition for particularly balanced and child-friendly school meals. Fresh preparation, top quality and lovingly prepared meals are part of our daily menu.

German Society for Nutrition

Our school meals are based on the recommendations of the German Nutrition Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ernährung, DGE). This ensures that our meals are balanced, age-appropriate and prepared according to the latest nutritional standards – for a healthy and enjoyable school day.

School without racism – school with courage

We are proud to be part of the "Schule ohne Rassismus – Schule mit Courage" (School without Racism – School with Courage) network. As a member, we actively promote a respectful, inclusive environment and stand against all forms of discrimination and bullying. The award underlines our mission to raise a generation that lives by these values.

Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

At Josef-Schwarz-Schule, students can take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – a programme that encourages personal development and responsibility. In the areas of adventure, volunteering, physical activity and personal goals, they gain valuable experiences beyond the classroom.
