Admission procedure
and registration

Here you’ll find all the key information about registration, trial days and fees for our private college. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Our admission procedure
in detail

Online registration

The first step is our online registration form, which parents and students fill out together. After submitting the form, you will receive a confirmation of receipt. We will then contact you in the spring prior to the desired start date to discuss the next steps in the admissions process.

Start of the admission process

All registered families receive a school questionnaire from us. Together with the child’s most recent school reports, the completed questionnaire forms the basis for our trial days. This allows us to gain an initial impression in advance.

The trial day

Parents and students are invited to attend an interview with the school leadership and admissions team. This conversation is an opportunity for us to learn more about the student’s interests, strengths and goals — and for you to ask questions and get to know our school in greater depth.

Academic insights

To determine the student's current academic level, students complete brief assessments in German, mathematics and English (around 60 minutes each). For students transferring from other secondary schools, we generally look for the following grades: English 2, German and mathematics one grade 2 and one grade 3 or better.

Decision and offer of a space

Following the trial days, we will carefully review all materials and reach an admission decision. You will then receive prompt feedback by e-mail, along with all the information you need for a smooth start at our school.

If places are available, we also welcome mid-year admissions.«

Your Admissions Team

Transfer from a
mainstream school

Our upper secondary school is open not only to our own students, but also to young people who have previously attended another grammar school. Under certain conditions, lateral entry is also possible for graduates of Realschulen or Gemeinschaftsschulen.

We are happy to welcome students who

  • have a keen interest in the English language – either because they already have a strong foundation or are motivated to further develop their skills
  • enjoy working independently, with commitment and a focus on achievement
  • value cultural diversity and see exchange with others as an enrichment
  • hold a Year 10 certificate from a grammar school or from a community school at E level – or, in some cases, a secondary school leaving certificate

Starting earlier – for example in year 8 or 9 – can be a good way to become familiar with the learning culture and atmosphere of our school and settle in well at the college.

Tuition calculator

We want as many children as possible to benefit from our educational programme. That’s why we have chosen a model with income-based parental contributions. The monthly tuition fee is calculated based on the family’s total annual income.

Parental contributions
for our bilingual college

  • Parental contribution

We aim to make our educational offering accessible to as many children as possible. For this reason, we use a model of income-based parental contributions.

The monthly contribution is calculated based on the family’s total annual income.

  • Profile contribution

The profile contribution supports the bilingual profile of the school. It enables extended learning opportunities beyond the timetable, assistant teacher support, individual coaching, talent programmes and the work of our school coaches.

  • Materials

At the beginning of each school year, there is a materials contribution of €150.

  • Excursion fee

At the start of each school year, we charge a flat excursion fee of €60.

Larger trips – such as camps, international exchanges, ski trips or travel abroad – are not included and will be billed separately.

  • Laptop 1:1 programme (laptop classes)

From year 8 onwards, Josef-Schwarz-Schule provides each student with their own business-grade school laptop. Subject-specific questions can be researched directly during lessons. Notes are stored digitally and are accessible at any time. Naturally, students may also take their devices home.

A yearly flat fee of €250 applies.

This fee includes: the laptop, software, energy costs, maintenance and repairs, updates, insurance, and printing costs (within the school).

  • Administration fee

A one-time administration fee of €200 is for new admissions to Josef-Schwarz-Schule.

This fee is not charged again when changing between school branches.

  • Tax deductibility

Information on the tax deductibility of childcare costs for parents can be found ►here.
All information is subject to change.
